Bradford
I've just returned from a couple of days in Bradford with a good friend. Overall assesment of the trip is very, very positive - Bradford, yet another place in England that I have fallen for.
Fun Fares
Did you know that you can book to almost anywhere in the country in advance and travel by coach in comfort for just one pound with National Express? Well, you can.... and that is how I got up to Bradford and back.
Accomodation
There is a Bradford Hilton Hotel, which I popped into to use the toilets and have a break after the five hour coach journey :-) but I didn't stay there. Instead I chose a warm, friendly, welcoming Bed and Breakfast just outside Bradford, Model Farm.
Of course, I always look around and try to get best value for accomodation. Model Farm was booked through Late Rooms who offer B&Bs and Hotels in the same way that Last Minute dot Com do. I personally have had poor customer service from LastMinute dot Com so choose to never use them (they actually owe me a refund that was promised but never paid) and I have only had good experiences with Late Rooms.
Consumer Choice
I never forget that I have power as a consumer and the most important way for me to excercise that power is to CHOOSE who and where I spend my money. I do.
Back to Bradford
As usual I've meandered away from what my intention was when I started writing about Bradford, but, I'm back in focus... Bradford got it's name according to almost every other web page on the Internet from "Broad Ford" which sounds like there was a river or stream at some point in the past that ran through Bradford. For me, as a visitor to Bradford, it was noticeable that there was a lack of water anywhere in the city centre. I stood on the top floor of the National Media Centre and looked out over Bradford and there is no sign of any pond, lake, stream or river. ..........
