Selling on eBay
Want to sell on eBay? Just starting out as a seller and wondering why your items don't make any money? or don't get the bids you think it deserves? Well, here are some basic tips that are essential to be a good seller on eBay and achieve the best price for your auction items.
eBay photographs
Make sure your items have lots of photographs - this is the number one tip that will help your items get bids and sell well. No matter what you are selling, make sure you have taken lots of photographs from many different angles. This will show your item in its best light because you will have taken away the buyers fear of bidding by letting the potential bidder see everthing there is to see.
eBay payment options
Be very, very clear about payment options - just because eBay would like you to only accept Paypal, would this neccessarily suit your buyers? Maybe not. Always offer alternative methods of payment - accepting cash sent registered post or even better postal orders should be an absolute minimum, though why wouldn't you also accept cheques or transfer to your bank account? You don't have anything to hide? Do you?
eBay location, location, location
If you are selling a heavy item and have specified "pickup only" you must tell your potential bidders where the pick-up is from! This seems very basic but I assure you whenever I am looking for an item of furniture for example, living in London, it is often the case that only the eBay information as to location of the seller is available - i.e. London! This does not tell me where in London, inside or ouside the congestion zone, west or east or any other helpful information. So make sure you give the area of pickup in your auction ad - it really will help you get more bids and a higher price for your item.
