"WIKIPEDIA : Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit." - this is how Wikipedia self-describe themselves. It is a fitting description Wikipedia is a fantastic FREE online encyclopedia that allws ANYONE, whether knowledgeable or not, to edit the content.

Although at first this raises feelings in people of horror - how can the information possibly be trusted if ANYONE can edit it? Well, the huge strength of Wikipedia and the reason it can be trusted is that it is totally, openly, peer-reviewed. There are always regular Wikipedia contributors who are watching and monitoring edits - and where an edit looks suspicious or does not meet Wikipedia's own quality control guidelines - the edit is immediately reverted.

The result is that Wikipedia content CAN be rusted. I use it frequently when doing research online - and I trust the quality of the content - of course, I also check against other sources - sometimes online and sometimes at libraries - yes, there are still libraries with real books around! :-)
